Larry Smith, the Conservatives newest Senator, commented on his most recent appointment as stating publicly, in a television interview, in front of his Canadian constituents, that he would be, “taking a dramatic, catastrophic pay cut” to serve the public. The base salary of a Senator is $132, 300. How awful for Larry to have to receive such a miniscule salary until he reaches the age of 75. How will he manage? Boo freaking hoo. Dear Santa, for Christmas I would like Larry Smith's problems. Spare him please.
Smith has also stated he will be running for the Conservatives in the next election for his riding of Lac-Saint-Louis, a liberal riding on the West Island of Montreal, where the average family income is $114,979, so technically Larry can still look down on the common folk. He should make a great politician.
But why take the catastrophic pay cut? Did the government make him an offer he couldn’t refuse? Did he wake up in his bed with the head of a decapitated horse? Canada is still a democracy right? Just say no Larry and keep your day job with the Montreal Allouettes. And here’s a news flash for you Larry. The CFL sucks. If Canada can make you a Senator then Bill Belichick should be the freaking President.
