It's Kind of a Funny Story

Sorry I'm late. It couldn't be helped. Company arrived on Friday and we got into some wine. I'm just starting to come around. This has been known to happen from time to time; weddings; birthdays; holidays; Fridays.

Update on the festival: Went to see "It's Kind of a Funny Story" with Zach Galifianakis. A clinically depressed teenager gets a new start after he checks himself into an adult psychiatric ward. It's kind of a funny story. More like a modern day "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". I highly recommend it. Not the getting depressed part but seeing the movie.

Another movie playing here in the festival is White Irish Drinkers. This is ironic because I have often tossed that title around as a possible family autobiography. It was either that or "We Put the Fun in Dysfunctional". The movie is a coming of age story set in 1975 working-class Brooklyn, two teenage brothers living with their abusive father and their well-meaning but ineffective mother are caught up in a life of petty crime. Now that writer has some imagination.

This afternoon we are going to see the movie "40". It's the story of just 3 people trying to make their way in Istanbul, a city of 12 million. My story is about 4 people trying to make their way in Toronto, a city of 2.5 million. I will pay close attention.
