A Picture's Worth a Resignation

Republican Congressman Christopher Lee from New York has abruptly resigned his position after a shirtless photo showing him flexing his muscles appeared on Craigslist, the on-line network that features free personals. Apparently a woman from Maryland accessing the personals posted an ad asking "Will someone prove to me not all CL men look like toads?" (I am assuming CL means Craigslist). Congressman Lee responded to the ladies query stating he was 46 and a divorced lobbyist. He’s actually married and has a son. But what’s a little white lie if it means you might get lucky, right? One of his e-mails described Lee as a “fit, fun, classy guy”.

Flirting ensued until the woman, after digging a little deeper, (and here I thought she’d already hit rock bottom) realized Lee had lied and then she did what any self-respecting woman scorned would do. She sent her side of the story, the shirtless photo and the e-mail exchanges to Gawker, an American on-line media and blog network whose motto is ‘today’s gossip is tomorrow’s news’. And the rest as they say is his story or it will be once he comes up with a good one to tell his wife.

It was less than a year ago that a Democratic Congressman from New York resigned his seat amidst allegations he sexually harassed male staffers. There are strange and evil events occurring. There’s something rotten in the state of New York and in the state of morality in general.
