It's The Size That Counts

I’ve always known this but now there is scientific proof. It’s official. Genetics can account for 60 to 84 percent of a person’s BMI, Body Mass Index. And you thought I was referring to.............?

We all know and hate them. The Giselle Bundchen’s of the world who can deliver a baby on one day and work the runway the next. When it comes to DNA it’s the luck of the draw and the lucky ones inherited the “skinny genes”. A speedy metabolism allows these folks to eat like a swine and never gain weight.

A leading geneticist from the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto analyzed his own DNA and discovered he had inherited a gene from his mother that gives him a speedy metabolism allowing him to chow down at the trough and never gain an ounce. The doctor freely admits the only exercise he gets is lifting that fork to eat and occasionally transporting his child to hockey. The guy is the same weight he was as a teenager. I have never met the man but I sure would like to stick that fork in him. I do appreciate however, that finally, someone freely admits they are the lucky ones. Most thin people will say they watch what they eat, exercise and work at being fit and trim which is a crock of crap. It’s pretty easy for someone who has inherited the “skinny gene” to not gain weight and to condemn and preach to those who do. To which I say, “Eat me!”
