and the Survey Says..................

Canadians are a happy bunch according to yet another survey. The Centre for the Study of Living Standards or CSLS for short conducted a survey of 70,000 Canadians and a whopping 92% stated they were either satisfied or very satisfied with their lives. Oh really?

As noted on their web site, The Centre for the Study of Living Standards is a non-profit, national, independent organization that seeks to contribute to a better understanding of trends in and determinants of productivity, living standards and economic and social well-being through research. The Centre also happens to be located directly across the street from Parliament Hill and depends on government funding to conduct their research. And oddly enough its board is comprised of politicians, academics and business people. No conflict of interest here.

Prince Edward Islanders are the happiest and rightly so. It’s quaint and not much goes on there. I do believe the population of PEI to be slightly lower than the attendance of a Leafs home game. The unhappiest people live in Ontario, those residing in Toronto being the unhappiest. No surprise there. Seems traffic jams; not so successful sports teams (i.e. Leafs; Raptors), the high cost of living and the day to day chaos are the main culprits causing many a Torontonian unhappiness. And I am expected to like it here after a mere four months?

The survey polled Canadians 12 years old and up. How is it possible to be twelve and unhappy? You have no bills to pay; your only job is to attend school; you get an allowance every week. What do 12 year olds have to complain about other than Justin Bieber and zits that is?
